Alright. Wright's idea, so he gets first pick, and it looks like it's going to be Barry Hannah's Pulitzer-nominated short story collection High Lonesome.
Mr. Hannah died a few months ago.
The author Richard Ford, Hannah's friend, told The A.P.:
“Barry could somehow make the English sentence generous and unpredictable, yet still make wonderful sense, which for readers is thrilling. You never knew the source of the next word. But he seemed to command the short story form and the novel form and make those forms up newly for himself.”
Should be good. We'll feel our way into this, but if everybody could try to get the book by, say, next Friday, we could all at least start on the same page.
You can order it (and much, much more!) at the Shoppes at Gangrey. Or email Wright and he'll hook you up.
This'll be cool. Watch.
